They are only meaningful when they are <g id=\"gid_4\">inextricably linked<\/g> to a particular bar or coin. The rule also applies to historical investment coins. With this size <g id=\"gid_0\">, there is no serial number stamped on<\/g> either the bullion or the packaging. The reason is that <strong>identification and authentication are easy<\/strong>, thanks to the specific characteristics of the workmanship and the high quality of the manufacturer. This is perfectly normal for this class of product.<br>Manufacturers rely on a <strong>refinery imprint<\/strong> affixed directly to the surface of the bullet &#8211; the logo, purity and weight are quite sufficient to verify origin and authenticity. The bullion thus remains easy to identify and verify.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Silver bars of 1 kg<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For kilogram bars, practice varies by refinery:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Heraeus and Argor-Heraeus<\/strong> &#8211; the bullion has an <strong>embossed serial number<\/strong> that serves as the primary means of identification. In most cases, a separate paper certificate is not issued as the protection is considered sufficient. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Valcambi<\/strong> &#8211; the rods are accompanied by both <strong>a serial number<\/strong> and a <strong>separate certificate<\/strong>. The number on the certificate matches the one stamped on the bullion. Therefore, they <strong>do not require integral packaging<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-can-issue-certificates\"><strong>Who can issue certificates<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Certificates may only be issued by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refinery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification agencies (NGC, PCGS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Mints usually issue certificates only for <strong>numismatic coins (proof)<\/strong>, not for bullion coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NGC and PCGS only make sense <strong>for numismatics<\/strong> because the procedure is expensive and not justified for investment products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-beware-of-sales-tricks-in-certificates-and-how-to-recognize-them\">!!! Beware of <strong>sales tricks in certificates and how to recognize them<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following practices are marketing gimmicks with no real value:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-a-colored-card-called-certificate\"><strong>1. A colored card called &#8220;certificate&#8221;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is just an information sheet:<br>&#8211; gives product details<br>&#8211; no serial number link<br>&#8211; not an official certificate<br>&#8211; no redemption value<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-expensive-boxes-and-gift-packaging\"><strong>2. Expensive boxes and gift packaging<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>They artificially raise the price by tens of percentages without adding investment value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-internal-certificates-of-traders\"><strong>3. Internal &#8220;certificates&#8221; of traders<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An A4 sheet with a company stamp is not a certificate. It is not recognized anywhere in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-brief-summary\"><strong>Brief summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The certificate is only valid if it is <strong>inextricably linked<\/strong> to the product.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coins generally <strong>do not have certificates<\/strong>, with rare exceptions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold bars <strong>must<\/strong> have a certificate with an identical serial number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silver bars have a certificate only when they are 100g and 1gk.
